It’s so interesting to look at the history of entertaining in American culture, and I’m starting a series with a peek into the 1950′s cocktail party. I discovered a great site (Food Timeline) that lists typical drinks and foods, recipes, and entertaining trends, from each year beginning in 1900. What did I discover? The 1950′s were all about entertaining. With new conveniences in the kitchen, women were whipping up playful snacks and cocktails, and dressed to the nines. It was all about finger foods, and sweet cocktails. Stuffed mushrooms, cheese balls, cheese straws, deviled eggs, and fish house punch. Healthy stuff…Add a circle dress in a fun print and you’ll be ready to go.
